10 Crafty Hashtags to Use on Instagram

crafty instagram hashtags

If you ever share crafty or handmade projects on Instagram, you may be wondering how exactly you can get those images in front of the right people – you know, the people who actually want to see craft, creative, handmade items in their feeds and follow the people who post them.

Well, you’re in luck. Because after some extensive research (read: browsing Instagram constantly… it’s a tough job but yadda yadda yadda) I’ve compiled a list of ten Instagram hashtags that you can use to share your most crafty, creative, handmade images on Instagram. Here they are.

#

makersgonnamake

This hashtag includes any and all things maker-related. You can share crochet projects, artwork, lettering, design work and more. But if you scroll through the feed it is mainly craft related photos.

#

craftsposure

This is another tag that has a huge variety of crafty images. It’s run by the @ account, which reposts some of the images from time to time.

#

abmcrafty

Run by the of A Beautiful Mess, #abmcrafty is full of colorful craft and creative projects. Weaving, watercolors and even creative food items are featured heavily.

#

wemakecollective

We Make Collective is a new company that sells crafty/creative kits. Run by of Fall For DIY, the corresponding tag features people who use the kits, along with those working on similar creative projects.

#

makersmovement

Maker’s Movement is a magazine and collection of creative individuals sharing their work online. Handmade jewelry, illustration, and home projects are all featured heavily in this feed. There’s also a that reposts content from the tag.

#

colorfullycrafted

This tag doesn’t have quite as many photos as a lot of others in this list, but as such, there’s a lot less spam and irrelevant content. As the name suggests, it’s full of craft projects that are extra colorful. of The Crafted Life started this one. And she reposts content from time to time.

#

creativelifehappylife

This is one of my favorite IG hashtags to use because it’s pretty broad. You can find photos of works on progress, creative workspaces, and people actually working on their craft. Run by Danielle of , there’s also a @ account that reposts some of the photos.

#

dstexture

A Design*Sponge tag, #dstexture isn’t specific to craft projects. But you can post anything there that has an interesting texture, so knit projects, weavings, or even close-ups of paintings can work really well here. The @ account also occasionally re-posts from here.

#

ohwowyes

This is where @ finds some of its DIY posts to feature. There’s no rhyme or reason to what shows up in the feed really, but colorful, funny, and pop culture related posts tend to get a lot of attention.

#

calledtobecreative

A more general tag for creativity, this tag includes a lot of craft related images along with artwork and photography.

You don’t have to use all of these on every single post. In fact, you shouldn’t. I like to mix and match different hashtags, using each on the posts where they’re most relevant. I usually use somewhere between 5-10 hashtags on each photo. But using the same ones over and over again will basically get your photos in front of the same people over and over again. So you should change them up and rotate them regularly.

Do you have any other crafty hashtags to add to the list? I’m working on some similar posts that deal with other categories, so I’d love to hear all of your favorite creative tags to check out!

Bonus: I’m also building a master list of more than 100 hashtags you can use on so many different kinds of creative photos and videos! To be the first to receive this list (and lots of other cool tips and exclusive content) you can subscribe to my brand new email list below!
