10 Hashtags for Sharing Artwork on Instagram

art_collective

Instagram is such a great platform for artists and any visually oriented businesses. And hashtags can be super helpful in making sure your Instagram content gets in front of the right people. If you ever share artwork on Instagram, here are ten hashtags you might use to share your work.

#

abstractart

Abstract art can come in so many different mediums – painting, drawing, sculpture, collages. And even if you don’t consider your main artwork to be abstract, you can create some abstract work as a creative exercise or just share small samples of your work that look abstract. This is a general hashtag you can use to share that type of artwork.

#

mixedmedia

Mixed media art is anything that uses multiple mediums at once. If you create any of this type of artwork, this is another general hashtag you can use to share your work.

#

iliketoartyhard

This is one of my favorites, created by @. A lot of the images in this tag are super fun and colorful. You can use it to share paintings, abstract work, patterns, and even snippets from your art journal.

#

sketchbook

Every artist has some kind of sketchbook or a place to work out ideas that aren’t fully polished. And sharing images from the pages from your sketchbook or art journal can be a great way to give people a sort of behind-the-scenes look at your creative process.

#

art_empire

This hashtag showcases artwork in lots of different styles and mediums. Anything super creative goes! And the @ account shares images from the hashtag feed sometimes.

#

worldofartists

Another hashtag that you can use to get your artwork shared in front of a larger audience, the huge variety of creative images are sometimes reposted to the @ Instagram account.

#

art_spotlight

Illustrators, sculptors, painters, and more can share artwork in this feed. The @ account also reposts images from this feed from time to time.

#

artoftheday

This hashtag also includes a huge variety of different artists and styles. You can share paintings, sculptures, sketches, and even videos of your art creation process.

#

art_collective

The @ account uses this hashtag to help artists connect with one another and share their work. You can post basically any type of art with this tag, and the account reposts content from it as well.

#

wip

This isn’t specific just to artwork. But that’s what a lot of the images consist of. If you’re unfamiliar, WIP stands for work in progress. So you can share any unfinished projects or artwork to give people a look at your process.

This is so helpful! Honestly, I never know what to tag my art besides obvious ones like #illustration. The only one I’ve heard of here is #wip, so I’m definitely going to be making use of the other 9 in the future!

    • I’m so glad you found it helpful! Your artwork is so awesome, Kyla!

Thank you! I’ve been looking for more interesting hashtags to use and I’ve never heard of most of these. Sometimes I look at bigger accounts to see what they use and they have no hashtags. It’s so confusing.

Seeing what other people use can be a great strategy! Maybe try searching through some accounts that aren’t huge, but sort of moderately popular. Then if you click on one of the tags they use there should be some similar hashtags listed at the top. Or try that with the ones in this post and you might find even more great ones! Glad you found it helpful :)

Yes, I think that’ll work better. I guess the big accounts don’t even need hashtags anymore. I’ve started making a list in my diary of new hashtags to try out because I keep using the same ones.
